Family Guy (Unrealistic)
Its Always Sunny Mac as a Black Man
In class we had discussed the ideas between realism and realistic and such ideas. When we talked about this I was asked the question from Dr.C about how can this been seen in movies and such were realsim and realistic have differences. I tried to analyze this question to the understanding of films. When we think about such films it can be compared to the ideas of how does one see a film that is in cartoon vs a human character. In my Comic Book history class, we talk about how realistic artwork skews the way that people look at it. How would someone feel if they were watch Family Guy with many of the racist stereotypes and inappropriate material that can be found. Since It is cartoon the viewers seem to be not as offended and continue watching the show. If the film was to be done with real characters, society would attack those people and the show would not be able to say what they say now. It is interesting to see how different forms of art and the realism, makes a difference in the ways that viewers interoperate things, and the reactions to each of them. How does one feel when they see racism in a show that is cartoon or animation. vs a show with real humans. The one with the humans portraying the joke seems to have a bigger impact on those being targeted. Even in Stand up Comedy, i believe that real people make the joke harsher.
