OBEY

Computers and the "Man"
"The elite domination of the media and marginalization of dissents that results from the operation of these filters occurs so naturally that media news people...convice themselves that they choose and interoperate the news objectively and o the passes of professional news values"(205). In this chapter they focused on how Propoganda of the media is making our society go in ways that they can't escape. When it comes to things such as the news, the news team feels as they can almost skew it to make it seem one way or another. This could be seen in the Trevon Martin case, the news team could have made it seem like it was a attack in defense, or a innocent man getting attacked. These different stances that are taken by our major news teams influence our society. "The mass media serve as a system for communicating messages and symbols for the general populace."(204).
The "man"
All of their beliefs relay me to think first and foremost of the popular "hipster" clothing brand called OBEY. Nearly all of their shirts say OBEY PROPOGANDA on them. When reading more into the company and what they are all about, they originated by a man named Shepard Farley, which was a college art student who created the initial image of the "man." This iconic face is a rebellion towards the "man" and the different aspects of society that we must follow. This company is all about counterculture. They believe that change is necessary and we can't keep following the simple rules and guidelines that society places on. The use the medium of shirts to advertise there ways, and they are becoming a large and popular brand. It is used to make people feel that they are not being manipulated by the "man" and societ(the government, president, different leaders, and celebrities). They believe that everyone should have there own path, and live there own lifestyle. Media Munipulation is causing people to not be able to do what they want, and they are influenced without even knowing it
