Post Class Blog

After talking about the modern and postmodern, the first thing that came to my head were the ways that society interacts socially. Technology in the postmodern is shaping our society completely. We are leaving behind all of our traditions that have been passed on for years, for new things, that replace them not necessarily for the better. When i think of certain traditions in society, this could be the act of simply enjoying the company of anther person and interacting socially. Now it feels as we are dependent on technology to keep ourselves entertained. When it comes to me and my friends, when we hang out, we are either on our phones, or computers, searching the internet for funny videos, news, etc. We cant just talk about life, we are leaving being the traditions that society has laid over the last 300 years, and we are getting to a point of "no return." In the Business world, many things are now done via, video, email, and it is getting less personal. This change is dividing the older ways of the previous generations, with how kids today are being raised. Social settings are becoming less comfortable as we are becoming so dependent on our phones. We need to as society help reverse what modernism is doing, and seeing where the parts that are hurting, and help to reverse them and go back to the traditions that have stood against time as being positive.
When it comes to the housing industry and architecture, in the area of Pennsylvania that i live, new homes are looked down upon due to the poor architecture and "passion" for the homes they were building. People with old restored 1700's 1800's and early 1900's homes understand the modern and how the postmodern has taken architecture the wrong way. "Cookie Cuter homes are looked down upon." Architects are building homes now to resemble the older style.
